You need the x coordinates to do it

The Distance Fomula
The distance between the points(x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

The Midpoint Formula
Given(x1,y1) and (x2,y2), the endpoint of a line segment, the point halfway between the given points is:

The distance from y=-3 and y=1 is four. Graph the lines and count the increments between the two. Or, 1-(-3) = 4
To find slope, change in y/change in x . Choose two points on a line with cooridnates (X1, Y1) and (X2,Y2). The slope between the two points is (Y2-Y1)/(X2-Y2). It doesn't matter which set of points is 1 and which is set 2, just be consistent within the problem.

to find the distance just subtract the two lines. make sure you get a positive number.

slope: y=mx+b

basically to find the slope you divide the chnge of y by the change of x.
