What do you think? (I was talking about this with my professor believe it or not.) So what do you think would happen if people took advantage of this? Well, there are still things to pay like student loans etc. Well, Any opinions?

Hi -
I am a development economist in training and I have recently been doing some research on this topic in relation to 3rd world countries. The countries that have free higher education have a much higher education attainment rate. I know that in the end someone has to pay for it, but you must remember that a lot of people stay out of college because they feel that there is just no way to pay for it so they just don't go. I know I know that there are ways if they really wanted to but for some it is just hard to see past the cost, especially prospective students coming from small towns. Also, I think that a great idea would be for a university to do a remittance kind of system where once the college graduates get a job they give so much back to the university. I think that it would be much better than the current system... Most Universities are not interested in the students they see it as a way to make money only. It might be hard to implement but I think that once it is done it would be a much better system.

It sounds like a nice idea on the surface, but in the end, someone has to pay for it.

In countries that have something like this, the price everyone pays is extraordinarily high taxes (much worse than ours in the U.S.).

NO capitalism works best. Take money out of the factor and schools will not have motivation to increase efficiency and educational standard.

Case point: communism failed!
