Because you have no track record. You might have to take a job you consider "beneath" you to get your foot in the door. Once there, be polite, have a good attitude, be on time and be willing to learn new things. This will make getting your second job much easier.

People prefer people with experience, they also prefer people who know what job they want. If you apply somewhere and say you will do anything, they throw away the resume. You need to have an objective that has a specific job in mind like: To obtain a sales trainee position where I can use my strong interpersonal skills.

It shouldn't be that hard. Are you expectations set too high? My 14 yr old daughter just went out, and got a job at an amusment park.

You need to expect to do grunt work at first. You have no track record, and no experience. Don't be afraid to work at Kmart or McDonalds to get some job experience for your resume.

Good Luck.

Because you are in a Catch-22, my friend. You don't have the experience you need to get a job...and you can't get a job to get the experience you need. You'll get there....something will open up and then you'll take that opportunity and run with it.

Look for companies that offer to train you to get you the skills you'll need. Especially when you're young, signing up for a position that requires a lot of travel and provides training is a great way to get a fast workplace education.

Good luck!

Because the biggest mistake people make in college is not looking for an internship in the field they choose to major in. People want documentable proof that you know what you're doing, or they will hire someone that does over you.

Cause you have no experience at all. The first thing they look at is experience. Second, education.
