My friend is trying do decide whether or not to get a Travel system (Stroller and infant carrier) or double stroller and infant carrier seperately. She has a son who will be close to 3 when her baby is born. She uses a stroller alot with her son, going for walks, hikes, etc. But his stroller has about had it. So she has to buy a new stroller for the new baby anyway. So my question, would u advise her to buy a travel system and let the 3 year old walk or a double stroller so both kids can ride on their walks/hikes?

We live in a small town so when we go somewhere we use the car, the stroller would be for when she goes to the mall, outings, park, walks around the neighborhood and hikes in the wooded area on her property. Hope that helps.

A double cause kids tend to get tired fast and you don't wanna be stuck carrying one while pushing another. The one can still walk outside of it while the other is in it.

My kids were 11 months apart. I loved my double stroller, it was a very convenient thing to have. Just make sure it holds one up front and one in the back. The double strollers that are side by side are hard to work with and hard to squeeze through the aisles at some stores. My double stroller was a life saver for the first few years :)

Double stroller. The 3 year old wont be able to walk half as far as he could ride.
Plus she can buy a better quality infant carrier if she doesn't buy a travel system.
Congrats to you friend.

If her son likes to get out and walk too I would get a single stroller and get something like the kiddyboard (see link below) which attaches to a regular stroller for when he gets tired.

I have seen a stroller called a "sit n stand" stroller. I know you can get them online at "www.onestepahead.com" I don't know if they are somewhere else as well. It is designed to hold the infant carrier and allow the toddler to stand up and ride safely, or sit down if he chooses to. I have a friend who has one and LOVES it.
just a thought.

If he's already close to 3 then he probably won't want to be in a stroller for much longer. I would suggest a sit and stand stroller. That way she can clip in her carseat with her little one, and he can walk with them...if he gets tired there's a little seat behind the carseat part for him to sit on and if he doesn't want to sit there's a little stand that he can stand on while being pushed. Double strollers can be really expensive, heavy and bulky....and not worth it if the oldest won't ride in it anymore!

I would buy one for the older child can sit/stand in the back. Like this http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2267617&cp=2255983.2256189.2256200&parentPage=family copy and paste it That way if the older child wants to walk, your friend isn't pushing a huge stroller around.

depends how long her hikes are, does she use a car often, or take the bus (most busses won't allow double strollers here) etc. Really need more info, sorry...
Edit - based on your additional details, I'd say that the travel system is the way to go!
Good luck!

Double strollers are hard to lug around and to maneuver...I would let the 3 year old walk
