You know what....You could have asked me that question last month....and I would have said I 100% agree with that statement....but since my childhood best friend, fiance, and true lover broke our relationship off....I would say I'd rather not have his love....rather than be swept off my feet like I was then....have my heart shattered into a million tiny peices...and feel like I have absolutely no more reason to live....

Every person on the planet wants really one thing....to be loved. Now how could this happen if people didn't love one another? Hmmmm...It is better to have loved and lost, because we do go through losses, it is naturally that way. It is the cause and effect theory. Without love, we are depressed, cynnical, and hopeless human beings. With love, we tend to live a happy life. Yet, True Love is giving of yourself without expecting anything in return. I would rather love, go through the pain, and cry, than to not have had the experience. It is those relationships that give us the understanding of who we really are, why we feel, and what our purpose is in life.

I have a friend who is miserable because she's never had a boyfriend (she's still a virgin at 22 years old). I have another friend who just got out of a relationship. The first one is more miserable than the second one. To make a long story even longer, yes, I agree with that statement.

I can't say i agree with it, but i don't completely disagree with it.

Agree) You can learn from your mistakes and that is an important step in life and it has to be taken in several forms, relationships being one of them

Disagree) It just really really isnt worth the drama and pain that will most likely happen during the "losing" period

This is assuming you lose love to someone else or just lose it because of how something went.

If I coud go back in time I would never have loved at all. Love is painful when you give your heart and soul to someone just so they can crush it later on. My ex and I were engaged for five years and he tells everyone I'm crazy, we were never togather more then a year, and I was just a psyco b**** he had felt sorry for and he never loved me. I pawned the 1/2 carrot ring he gave me and moved on with my life. Eight years later I've never got over my hurt feeling and always feel wary of my husband of seven years feelings for me.

I very much agree with this statement. Love is not about winning or losing it is about experiencing love. That is what makes love worthwhile. Nothing in life is guaranteed not even life but that doesn't mean it's not worth it.

~hmmm~ I see a lot of people have answered this question, and some have good points to their answers . but the reasoning behind that question comes from the very first person that ask it and they did love their partner very much and then lost them to death in a very short time . so is it better to have loved then not at all ....... YES no matter what comes your way . you can find so many people and love them but true love you can do even if its for a short time together atlest you had the time together.... best of luck to you ...

i agree with that statement somewhat. the pain that you go through is almost unbearable. (like me right now) but i can say that i will always cherish the 2 1/2 years my ex and i had together. I do believe that we will get back together just right now we need a break

YES here is something a friend wrote I really liked
close to my heart you will always be... you'll never know what you mean to me...that look in your eyes... that smile on your face...will always in my heart hold a special place... I guess i knew right from the start... that all you could give me was a broken heart... but like a fool...in love I fell...and now my heart hurts like hell... but one day soon this pain will end...and i'll be happy with the memories of you ... my special friend.....
