My old laptop is dead and got a new one. What I want to do is to transfer the data stored in hard drive of old laptop to the new one. Any ideas on how I go about this?
Thanks

hI, you can remove the hard drive (ery easy to do) and buy an extrnal enclosure (about £10). Fit your hard drive into this and use a usb cable to conect the external drive to your computer.

exactly what thingsforsale1978 said

I am in IT in my company supporting remote user's laptops. When I get a dead laptop in, I fire up their old drive from a drive enclosure and restore their data to the new system.

When you are done, you now have a rather portable drive for your use.........

you should use a cable like this to connect your 2 pcs from Belkin or perhaps if you should use a cable like the single shown on ebay and connect your oldpersistent direct on your new one via USB. i'm no longer particular in case you want to be waiting to apply the old workstation with the belkin so likely the ebay one will be more advantageous powerful! Please be conscious that the ebay link is for reference in person-friendly words and that i be conscious of no longer something about the broking

Great guys, didn't know that caddies were that cheap now.

Just had a look on ebuyer for a suitable enclosure. Here's the link.
