About 5 hours if you drive like me! Otherwise 5 hours and 52 minutes, per Yahoo Maps. See the link below for the Yahoo map from Houston to New Orleans, as well as directions and drive times.

I've gotten to New Orleans from San Antonio in 8 hours. We are about 2 1/2 hours from Houston. Leave at night and follow the truckers lead---when they are hauling ***, you haul ***---when they slow down, you slow down.

It ususally take about 6 hours depending on traffic and construction. There is some construction right now, so I would say a little less than 7 hours.

6 hours,
Make sure you fill up with gas in Lafayette, LA. There is a very very long bridge after Lafayette and you do not want to run out of gas while on the bridge.

6 hours and bring some good music or an audio book, because it's a boring drive.

Ask Nasa as they recently sent an Astronuat in that direction wearing pampers to grease someone in Miami; Nasa should simply call Detroit like civic minded Americans who, when the job needs to be done right, calls Vinnie...
