Is it my imagination or are newsreaders more patronizing than ever?

They give the news like they're addressing a bunch of kindergarten kids. And when one of them is speaking the other person smiles indulgently or looks at his or her partner as though they're revealing the meaning of life. It annoys me so much!

I've noticed it too. It's been going on for quite a few years now. So I no longer watch the local news. It's old news by the time they report it anyway, because I read Yahoo news.
