She does the chewing on stuff thing, she drools, she seems to be a wee bit grumpy but I can't feel or see anything. I also don't know what I should be feeling on her gums or seeing. Anyone have a clue?

The first teeth to come in are the two bottom teeth in the middle of her mouth. If she is biting on things with that part of her gums and has any of the following symptoms she's probably teething:
Drooling, playing with ears, low grade fever, fussy, sticking hard objects in their mouth to chew on, chewing on pacifier or nipples.
Your daughter is probably teething but the teeth aren't even showing up as bumps on her gums yet. Just keep an eye out for little bumps on her gums- she's the right age to be getting her teeth now.
The only way to tell for sure is to get her x-rayed at the dentist, but there's really no reason to go that far.

Things to look for...diaper rash can be an excellent sign of teething, both my children got a rash and the next day their bottom teeth showed up. But look for other things, are her gums swollen? Does she enjoy you rubbing her gums? Does she feel clamy? You will not feel the bumps until about the day before the teeth actually cut through, look behind the gums. You can see the whiteness of the teeth behind the gums....hope this helps

you would see little white spots on her gums where the teeth come out. sometimes they stay just under the surface for awhile and it really hurts baby. thats why you should give her something hard to chew on like a frozen teething ring so the teeth can cut through. ya know what though, get a teether with a handle thats not frozen because my daughter didnt like to hold the ones that were all frozen.

Her gums might be a little bit swollen and a little bulge where the teeth are. My son drueled and chewed on things for several months before any teeth came in.

You should feel for little bumps on her gums. Sometimes you can see the little bumps coming up. She will cry, run a fever, possibly have diarrhea, chew on anything she can possibly get her hands on, and she will definitely drool alot.
