No, there really isn't. I played in college and in the Cape Cod league and did just about everything to throw harder... maybe I added a couple of mph to my throw ... but nothing considerable. What I was able to do, however, was to improve the rotation and accuracy of my throws. Better rotation will add some distance to your throws allowing options for either the cut-off man or a nice one-hopper to third that doesn't spin off to the side when it hits the dirt.

Try holding the ball closer to your fingertips and with a narrower grip. Make sure you are throwing a four-seamer (a two-seamer will make it sink). Really try to come over the top so that your ball will have the proper rotation.

Trying too hard to throw harder may cause you to injure yourself. That definitely wouldn't help you throw any faster.

yes there are some training baseballs in sporting stores they are yellow in color and have dimples on them (like a big golf ball) they are heavier in weight as a regular baseball is only 5 oz. this are like 10oz. so your arm is going to build up strength just dont over do the throwing start across the diamond then once you warm up going to right feild and throw it to second base then third and home also practice throwing to your cut off man from the fence this will help you get strong with out using weights to much bulk and you wont be able to lift your own --you know

Lifting weights would be good...not only for your throwing, but for hitting as well. But you also need to practice on your throwing as well. I use to play H.S baseball and I played in right field a bit as well (actually I played all 3 spots in the outfield).

My advice is to get a buddy and just throw the ball back and forth..then start having him move back a ways so you can start throwing it further to him. Just work on the basics. Ball speed will come in due time.

Good luck!!!

Work out. Do weight lifting, push ups, exercises that will build up the biceps and triceps. Find a friend to do long and short throws with you. And keep practicing! Oh, and don't listen to Mike W...using steroids may build bulk fast, but it depletes brain cells and testosterone, making you a moron in general, and you don't want to end up like Mike W, do you?

To get your throwing stronger:

First make sure that you have good mechanics. Check with a more eperienced player/coach, and get them to help you.

After you have your mechanics in place start long tossing.
Start off close and keep throwing at distances until you are really far away. Do this at least three times a week, and you will see results.

Weights dude. Weights. Make sure to do proper stretches so that you can be more flexible. Also, to get some extra stuff on the ball, crow hop, then throw. Good luck this baseball season.

Try a training drill by having someone hit you fly balls and work on your timing of catching it and setting up a curl hop. Also work on building up your legs and back this is where you will generate most of your power, you should also throw everyday, find some one to play catch with and progressively move farther and farther apart.
