Autosomal dna is received 50-50 from both parents. From what I see on the genealogy websites is that the testing will only help you with your ethnicity, not help you find specific ancestors like the Y and mitochondrial DNA. Does anyone know a website that will test Autosomal dna more specifically that might tie you into ancestors?
My great grandfather died when my grandfather was a very small boy. My grandfather was his only child. Now my grandfather had 5 sons all deceased Those 5 sons had a tendency to have daughters. Actually, my grandfather has 2 grandsons, one I never hear from at all and the other really hasn't responded to my request. I don't like to press something like this as people sometimes feel for their DNA to be checked is an intrusion.
I don't need my mitochondrial DNA as my direct maternal line is well researched by many people.
I know my father had mitochondrial DNA from my grandmother, but he doesn't pass it on to his children.
