I heard on the radio (Mix 94.7 Austin) a study that found all men, regardless of sexual orientation, will alway check out the body parts of whoever or whatever they are looking at, male, female, animal, no matter... men will always check out their genitals...

Why would you want to prevent that?
Considering that the 'first time' thing is usually considered a BIG deal why not admit it and enjoy it :) There is no shame in not having done something before... what's up with that?
As for looking at specific pars of specific guys there is not easy rule... some guys will get upset if you look at just about any part of them if they don't like how you look. Other guys will be REALLY mad if you DON'T look! :P
Generally if a guy is exposing some part of himself he either wants you to look, doesn't care if you look, or is oblivious.

Not really a way to fake him out unless you are good with pain. At a gym, guys expect to be looked at so no worries there.
