Empirical things are things that can be observed with the senses- sight, touch, taste, smell, sound. Wishing and praying aren't empirical at all.

Wishing is more or less passive, and praying somewhat active. When you wish for something you are just expressing a desire and do not necessarily expect that anything can be done to realize that desire - i.e.- "I wish I had a nickel for every question on this site..." where as praying is asking for intervention from an outside being or force to actively achieve a desired end.. i.e. "PLEASE would someone turn off the LOUD horrible stereo upstairs before my head explodes!". Wishing, in a way, denies the possibility of that which is wished for, whereas praying denies the impossibility of it.

I would say that praying is a form of communicating a wish. The expression of a wish is a prayer. So empirically, if one prays aloud, that is observed.

e.g. I can wish for a glass of tea and never speak it. But if I pray to my daughter for some tea, and she brings it, I have expressed my wish.

Wishing is something that does not have a voice.Wishes to most people is something they really don't have the faith that it will come to past...and we all have been told to make a wish and blow out the candles and we are told we must keep that wish to our self.Otherwise it won't come true.

Prayer is something you give voice to..something you don't keep secret.Prayer is the thing that gives wishes substance.
Prayer turns a wish into hope.

Yes wishing is wanting something, prayer could be an expression or feeling concerning the future but not necessarily wanting or wishing for something in particular.

Simple wishing is just wanting it and doping nothing to get it.
Praying is asking for from you Father in heaven to give it to you. However, remember not all things are good for you and you Father in heaven might not give you a bad thing.
(Jhn 14:14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it].

the inner doubt associated with wishing is larger than the one associated with praying, because when you are praying you believe that their is a super power capable of answering your request..

Oh yeah!

Lemme put it like this:

Wishing: When you want something(mind).

Praying: When you need something(heart).

I'm going to leave it like this for you.

WISH IS A TRADE BASED UPON YOUR ABILITIES OR DISABILITIES TO GAIN SOMETHING.
PRAYER(I DO NOT MEAN THE PRAYER TEXT I MEAN SORT OF WORSHIP) IS JUST AN OPPORTUNITY.
