perfectly normal, if you get a second one that is bigger or brighter in color run for your doctor or ER but it is normal to have a few of these.
if you had problems bleeding during or after your pregnancy the size of "normal" can be as big as your fist.

You should at least call your doctors office, or an emergency doctor, but I think that resting can cause blood to clot inside you, and the colour suggests that it has been there a while.
If they checked that you delivered ALL of the placenta after you had your baby, and told you there was none left inside you, you don't need to worry about it.
But mention it to your doctor as soon as you can, just to put your mind at rest.
This is one of the things no-one ever warns new moms about- I had a few clots in hospital after giving birth, and the staff their must have though I was mad, but I made them check it and asked it was normal to have clots!

Sounds kind of like you may have had some retained placenta. You should go to the doctor and have them make sure you don't have anymore. If that is what is was it can cause infection. (I'm assuming you are talking the size of a normal chicken egg?)

Frank your reply must have sent this woman into an uneccessary panic!! - its normal for this to happen wks after giving birth, if you are concerned keep the clot, or anymore you have and show it to midwife to check its not remains of placenta, as you gave birth 3 wks ago I very much doubt this, but will put your mind at rest.

You should see a doctor now; unless they already know.
Blood clots like that could lead to a stroke or cardiothrombosis (heart attack due to clot of blood supply to heart).
It wouldn't be the 1st clot that kill you obviously, but the next one that could. You do not know where it could occur.
