I can't get her to stop, she has been doing it her whole life and even with 100x a day reminders from family and even family friends she still continues do walk on her tiptoes. I try to make her wear shoes as much as possible but as soon as the shoes come off she's on tiptoes again. Does anyone know why a child would do this? Could this be damage her feet in the long run? Any thoughts on how to make her stop?
Thanks

Walking on tiptoe is not generally a behavioral issue but a medical one and yes it can cause problems with her feet, toes and legs by shortening the calf muslce and lenthening the achilles tendon. Children who walk on tiptoe can have other problems. There can be a connection to learning disabilities or neurological issues. Have you ever discussed this with her doctor? I would definitely have a talk with her doctor and find out more.

Teach your daughter to exercise by walking on her feet not her toes. I'm the same way and my husband gives me exercise that way like maybe 4 times a day walking on my feet. Yes it can make her toes not straight. They'll be curved instead of straight.

I don't know why they do it, but my daughter used to do the same thing. She actually grew out of it. She's 15 now and doesn't do it anymore. I can't really see it causing damage. Ask your family doctor.

I knew a boy who did that, he had to have surgery because the muscles on the back of his leg weren't long enough so it hurt him to walk on his feet.

shes fine but if u really hate it when she does that
then make a certain chart if she goes a day without being on her toes she gets a sticker if she fills out seven of them she gets a treat

It's a little weird. Maybe you should buy her some ballet slippers and see what happens.
