it seems to me, that with the the great shortage of those serving in the military, it is not only stupid, but downright dangerous to limit who serves...why the military fears gays is beyond me. I no of NO men you have been raped by a gay man...IF any man gets raped, it is straights doing the raping. Odd, isn't it?

First question are relationships harder in the military: Yes; dating on base off base your bf is in your home town all yes
Second question do peers spy on one another to out gays: Depends if you base is trying to crack down and out the gays yes. I never heard of it. Did have a friend of mine get discharged when i was for getting caught giving head to a captain. The Captain had a hidden camera to record conversations and it kinda got out.

Never been in the service, but according to comments here from time to time, I'm sure self-righteous peers are much more apt to out gay relationships than non-allowed heterosexual ones. Official spying of course is outlawed by the don't-ask-don't-tell policy.

I've never been in the military but it would seem to me that for those who are deployed to an active military zone (Afghanistan, Iraq, elsewhere), there's precious little time to think about sex, let alone whether the man or woman next to you is homosexual.
My opinion is, there are far more important issues facing the military than spying on its members and participating in witch hunts to oust the "dreaded" homosexuals.

Yes, it is much more difficult because military personnel are nosy as little old ladies.
The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy has actually kicked out more gays/lesbians since it's induction than the former "no gays allowed" policy ever did.

I agree with behrmakr on this one. The people who are in active combat have MANY more important things to worry about than who is sleeping with whom.
I'd love to hear a response from some of our gay military people here, Tegarst or Tracer???

If the military was really opposed to biblical immorality in sexual relationships they would court martial any straight oldiers who had sex with someone they weren't married to. No more hookers in foreign ports, no more amorous trysts with the girlfriend while on leave, nothing!
How many recruites do you think they'd get then?
