Booting up will not proceed until I click on the "F1 key". I know that this has to do with Floppy Disk Drive, but there is no floppy disk in my PC. How can I delete whatever is looking for a floppy disk drive? I am running Windows XP SP2

In your BIOS, if you have a "Standard CMOS Features" make sure "DRIVE A" is set to NONE. Also, set "HALT On:" to No Errors.

Make sure the Floppy is not in the boot order & "SEEK FLOPPY": is set to DISABLE. These should be in the Advance Options (if at all).

Hope this helps,

fdc(or floppy disk) is automatically part of the boot order in bios, but not all p.c,s come with floppy drives so most modern bios have options to disable them
to do this press delete at start-up and then go into intergrated periphals, then look for fdd, then using pageup/down you need to set it to disable, then you must remember to go back to the main set up page and press "save and exit set up",this will save the settings to the cmos,so the p.c will remember the settings, even when its turned off for long periods
it may also be an idea to go into"advanced bios settings"while in set up and remove floppy drive"from the boot order, you should then replace it with 1st(hdd0)2nd(hdd1)3rd(cd-rom),then press save and exit again
after all the settings are saved to cmos the p.c will reboot and start up again as normal without the f1 prompt
also while you are in bios ,it may be a good idea to also disable anything you dont use, such as paralell port and serial ports, all these use valuable resources that can be used elsewhere
good luck

The easy way to get rid of this error is by changing the settings i your BIOS.
When you switch on hold down DEL or F1 or ESC.
you can either disable the floppy drive, or change to halt on 'no errors'

Hope this helps
