I am a Minnesota resident looking to set up a DBA, where do I go to do this, what kind of steps are required and do you know the cost? I would like to get this done in 40 days, not sure if thats possible or not.

You can normally go to your local county/city office to file a DBA

You can also go to the Minnesota Secretary of State website which has the instructions on hoe to file a DBA. Basically you will need:

- $25 filing fee
- must publish the Certificate or Amended Certificate of Assumed Name with a qualified legal newspaper for two consecutive issues in the county where the principal place of business is located.

If you can publish in a daily newspaper, then you can definitely get your business name in less than 40 days as the requirement is only 2 CONSECUTIVE issues

You can find the instructions here including list of qualified newspapers

Usually @ your local City Hall with the city clerks office -- they have all the info, including business license, tax info, etc.

Usually the paperwork/footwork involved takes nearly 60 days to complete, but that's California =)

Here's what I found for your state
* $25 filing fee
* must publish the Certificate or Amended Certificate of Assumed Name with a qualified legal newspaper for two consecutive issues in the county where the principal place of business is located.
