how do i get out from behind a firewall?

Well I assume your camera is on you LOCAL network as opposed to the internet. In order to open your firewall you need to know a couple of things.
What firewall are you running? (If its windows firewall you can open Control Panel to manage it..) If it is a firewall that came with antivirus software etc. You need to check the help files that came with it to see how to access the settings.
You need to know what "Port" and what program is used to access your camera. Many just use the web browser and access is done on port 8080. It that is the case just open port 8080 in your firewall settings. Otherwise consult your camera's information manual or website and find out what your firewall has to allow in order to access the camera.
