Many people I know like it, but say it's hard to watch unless you see it from the beginning...Is it any good?

I'm hopeless addicted to Lost.
I just started dating a new girl who had never watched Lost, she managed to see an episode from 3 or 4 weeks ago and thought it was great... so we ended up going through season's 1 and 2 on DVD and then watched all of 3 online. She's hooked now.
It's definitely not a story you can start watching in the middle of season 3 and know what's going on. You have to watch from the beginning.
Who ever said he couldn't find the pilot has no clue what he is talking about. The Lost pilot is probably by far the best pilot episode out of any TV show ever. If you thought you could figure out the show from 20 mins into the pilot you are are just lying to yourself to make you look cool on the internet.
The best thing about Lost is going back and watching each episode again and picking out the clues, the synchronicities, the 6 degrees of separation and things like that. Season 1 definitely worth watching 2 or 3 times and paying close attention to things. You will see other characters popping up in brief passing in other character's flash backs.

I think Lost is great. It would be hard to just start watching it now, however. You can go to abc.com and either read the recaps or watch the episodes to catch up. It does get confusing and without background you would be lost. (sorry for the pun)
I think it is worth the effort though - one of the best written shows on TV ever.

I missed the first season, and began watching it sometime into the second season. I have gotten into it and really enjoy it. If you want the background, check out the first 2 seasons on dvd. Or if you just want to try watching it...make sure you give it a couple of weeks - many of the characters' stories carry over from week to week.

I love Lost. It is such a great show. I've been watching since season 1. You could probably rent the seasons from Blockbuster to play catch up. It's a really great and original show.

I love the show and recently rented the first season to show my friend. He wanted to see what all the fuss on his morning radio program was about. I had to force him to take a break! He is hooked now. I would give it a try- from the beginning!

it is so bad, that i didn't bother finish watching the pilot episode,,, saw where it was going fast,,, nowhere
