I know it sounds a bit silly, but i was just wondering if anyone has had twins when they were only expecting one baby? just wanted to know if it still occurs in this day and age?

My mother in law. She had her girls and didn't find out until they came!!!!

As a joke, someone in my father in law's office gave them a double stroller so she could put the baby in one seat and her packages in the other......it didn't work out that way.

I think more recently it's near impossible for a multiple pregnancy to go unnoticed. I was only seven weeks along when they suspected twins. I think this is attributed to the fact that ultrasounds are used more frequently, and twins are simply more common now than they were even ten years ago. Doctors are more informed about what to look for.

Its pretty rare for that to happen- actually extremely rare unless the mother went unmonitored.
We found our identical twins on a 7 week ultrasound. I almost fell off the table as we have no history of twins and totally did not expect it.
Here's my 7 week u/s....

My friend ended up having triplets when she was expecting one. She didn't find out until pretty far along in the pregnancy.
