I keep getting letters to my address for 2 people that have never lived at this address. There are things like Credit Cards applications, Charity raffle tickets etc. No "real" letters just a selection of junk mail on a daily basis Every time one of these letters arrive I write back to the company explaining Y requesting that these names are removed from their database.
I am worried that these people get credit cards & run up debts & get my address blacklisted.
What can I do to stop these letters arriving?

I had this happen last year turned out someone who lived at my address many years ago was using this address to try and get credit cards. I had a credit agency trying to contact this person my landlord spoke to them and sorted it out. But it was also recommended that we also notify the police that this was going on.

Register with a Mailing Preference Service. they are FREE so never pay a fee!!!

According to them you can.........

3. I am receiving unsolicited direct marketing mail in somebody else's name. Can MPS reduce this?

Yes, you can register a previous occupant's name at your current address on the MPS and this will reduce unsolicited direct marketing mailings to your address under their name. Please allow 4 months for the registration to take affect.

Also you can keep them in a box, let them stock pile and then take the box to the Post Office and tell them. They will sort it out too. OR......once you have collected a huge pile send them back marked C.O.D! this takes time to write out each one if you haven't done them when they arrive individually.......returning a whole pile to the companies will eventually get their attention.....

I have even resorted to opening them and RINGING the customer services........very annoying, costly and time consuming but that works also!

The two main credit reference agencies are equifax and experian. You can get them to ad a statement to your files saying you have no known association to these people and they have never lived at your address. I was a credit controller for years. If you dont put a statement on you may find you get terned down for credit by association. Good luck.

Take a sampling of the letters back to the post office, and ask them to return them as "not at this address".

Return all letters unopened to sender. Mark as unknown at this address. Would not worry to much. regards
