"Popular" meaning, they have large support within their own community. Seems that Cons hate every leader that the Black community supports.

Why is that?

Not surprised.....but I only you guys mentioning people with little or NO support from the broader black community. J.C. Watts? Alan Keyes?....lol

These are just blacks that whites like. How about someone with broad black appeal?

Most or all of the things you cons call Sharpton and Jackson, you types called MLK when he was around. Food for American thought.

Bill S - Get real. Limbaugh is a "leader" of the conservative movement. Meaning he speaks for followers and his words have import, although he's not an elected official. I did say "POPULAR" in my question. So cut the semantics play and read more carefully next time.

I voted for Lynn Swann for governor of my state, but he lost. I have also listened to Alan Keyes and would support him and Condi Rice as well. I'm sure there are other good black leaders out there. Unfortunately, conservative Blacks are not popular among the black community; hopefully that will change. Bill Cosby is outspoken about things blacks should be concerned about, and he makes a lot of sense.

To be honest I don't know many black Leaders. But growing up outside Detroit I was witness to the likes of Coleman Crook Young. I think Colin Powell is an excellent example of what a person can achieve. Condi Rice is unbelievably talented. I support Bill Cosby and his quest. Clarance Thomas, J.C. Watts. These leaders want total freedom and equality for the black community. They are showing that you can compete equally. These should be the model of the black community. Let's get rid of the black community and just make it a community.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are strident, mercurial and inflammatory with their rhetoric. Colin Powell espouses Democratic party ideology at his own party's expense - trying to play the field as McCain does. And ~
The United States is ill-prepared for another large-scale terrorist attack like 9/11 because limited military resources are bogged down in a war in Iraq the U.S. cannot win, presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama said on TODAY.
If you don't know what's wrong with that statement...............

What's this "black leader" stuff? Are there "white leaders" or "Oriental leaders", etc? Why do the left and the media need to have "black leaders" they can point to? Is this based on some belief that blacks are herd animals like sheep that respond to and follow the bellweather?

I don't know any popular black "leaders" per se. And I doubt that blacks appreciate having Sharpton or Jackson thrust upon them and annointed their "leaders" by the media. Is this an elected position?

But if you asked which black people I respect, then there are many.

But your question doesn't make a lot of sense.

Condi Rice. Sometimes I like Al Sharpton. As has been said some people are just racists. Racism knows no party lines. If you judge all of us by the few then it is you who are in error.

1st We don't pick candidates by skin color, That's raciest. We pick our candidates by qualification. Unfortunately the black leaders seem to enjoy race baiting, it keep them in power wile there supporters suffer. If your repeatedly told your not going to make it you won't. Now an excellent example of a black leader is Dr. Rice. Smart, articulate and patient.

Allen Keyes among others and what "seems" to you is just your sick predjudice against Conservative Americans. Have you never been off the marijuana long enough to notice just how racially diversified the current administration really is? Way to pay attention there sparkey. I'd be willing to bet that you've never contributed a thin dime to any race based charity and you probably cross the street when a black person approached like most of your liberal buttbuddies do.
