yes, you can trade with people online, using the DS WiFi through a wireless modem on a computer hooked on the internet. failing the wireless modem, you can also use the DS USB WiFi attachment, which costs about $35-$40 (usd)

no.you have to have their friend code to wifi battle/trade.besides,with voice chatting,would you want to talk to a complete stranger?probably not.it's different in the case of the GTS.you dont need friend code.
