In the beginning of the show, "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", Will had a dark skin mother, and somewhere in the show they replaced her with another actress. Does anybody know why she was replaced?

The part of Aunt Vivian Banks was portrayed by two different actresses during the series run. Janet Hubert-Whitten portrayed the original Vivian during seasons 1-3, but growing problems between Will Smith, the producers, and Hubert-Whitten caused her to depart in 1994. The producers offered Hubert-Whitten a 12/25 contract for season four, but she declined. Daphne Maxwell Reid replaced her in the role from 1994-1996, seasons 4-6.

Will and the original Vivian didn't get along. have you noticed that they always replace a dark with light. Ex: Harriett on Family Matters, Claire on My Wife and Kids, Vivian from the Fresh Prince...shall I go on? What's up with that?

It was Will Smith. Although just a few people know that Rory Emerald himself was the person that taught Will Smith to play correctly "Will Smith" character.

He only had one mother on the show. She didn't come around very often. He had 2 aunts on the show.... the first of which was a dancer. She has dreadlocks now. She's pretty obscure.

i heard that will smith and the original aunt vivian didnt get along while filming the show on set. to settle the desputes, one of them had to leave. obviously will smith was the star of the show and they couldnt get rid of him so they got rid of her..thats what i heard atleast

His aunt actually. She left the show due to contract issues, she was pregnant at the time.

YEAH, I HEARD THAT OFF-SET HER AND WILL DIDN'T GET ALONG AND THEY HAD TO FIRE HER BECAUSE THEY WERENT GONNA FIRE WILL HE IS THE BIG SHOT. SO THEY GOOT A NEW VIVIAN.

she was actually sold to ABC and they changed her name to Star Jones
