Death isn't a reason to believe in God. Death is a reason to WANT there to be a God willing to provide a life hereafter.

Honest people...
1. Don't believe whatever they want. They believe what they can.
2. Look at the evidence and draw the most reasonable conclusions, and they don't form beliefs just because it would be nice if they were true.
3. Check on truth FIRST, and then, if positive, belief follows. It's never the other way around.

I would argue that death is a reason NOT to believe in a god, rather than that it is. Everything we have ever, ever seen dies. There is nothing of any kind in the universe that can be said to be eternal... and probably not even the universe itself. It's not hard to conclude from this that the idea of anything eternal is therefore a completely fictional one.

This is, however, not iron-clad reasoning. Saying you've never seen something hardly means it doesn't exist. Quite the contrary - I think most people have experienced such a minute proportion of what exists that it would be fair to say that humans really know almost nothing about what really goes on in the universe.

Let's see... there are quite a few reasons why you might believe but there are obviously not immensely iron-clad either, or everyone would believe in not only a god, but the same kind of one. To name a few:

- to enjoy the community of those who believe more than you
- you are afraid of punishment or are afraid of death
- you don't believe that something can come from nothing
- you 'just know' - an internal feeling that a god exists
- others vouch for the existance of a god, and you trust them
- you believe religion does good things and wish to help

...and that's just a few. You may note that many of those reasons are completely secular, many are completely rational, and many are completely emotional. So it goes. If you buy into any of those things, then you might want to start looking into various religions and finding one that suits you. If not, you may wish to just disavow any knowledge of such things one way or the other and forego all of the above.

Make a choice that works for YOU, though!

Yes, of all the information and knowledge, the wisdom that a person can know, what 3% and thats the smartest, the greatest amount of knowledge that a person can not know can God live there, now if your a honest person you just admitted God is alive, okay second if you took the raw materials and put them into a container, shook it up, can you get a rocket or "must" you take those materials and design it, okay your more complex then any rocket so God designed you, and the ten commandments [not suggestions] all governments including the USA that has a government that you would want to live there has as its base those ten commandments it would be dangerous for anyone to live in a place without them so if there real so is the rest, find out more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless.

Come on Brandon..., your question of falacious! It contains a sophist in it.

You are affirming categorically that "the only reason 'we' know to believe in God in death". This is not true nor out there in the USA, neither here in Brazil or in any other country!

There are dozens of reasons to believe in God. They can be derived from fear, or from the rationality, from and "unsayable/unthinkable" experience, from a revelation etc.

So, in each one of these paths one may find different reasons to in God believe.

You cannot ask sth and at the same time affirm another thing that impeds us to answer properly you. So learn this and keep up with the good work!

Death only occurs when we are composed of matter. Our souls are composed of energy and are eternal. The reason to believe in Krishna is to escape material contamination. The purpose is not to believe in God. The purpose is to surrender all your actions to Krishna and remain devoted through all the trials and tribulations of material energy. Whether a person believes in God is not the point.God is always serving you in direct proportion to you serving Krishna. As a dog or a cat or any of the other 8,400,000 reincarnations we go through our only chance is as a human to stop this process of reincarnation.

It's interesting, I"ve been very close to Jesus since I was 3, was lucky to have someone teach me He is our Best Friend. I believe all of the Bible and all, but mostly, God loves us more than you can imagine, and all of my life, being close to God, I've said to him, I don't care if I just die and be dead, having you with me thru this life has been so marvelous. I could write a book on the many ways He has loved on me.

Are you speaking about God's existence? Or about 'belief in Christ' which saves a person? If you are asking about the existence of God- there are many arguments (such as the Cosmological) which give clean-cut arguments in favor of His existence.

If you are asking for a reason to believe in Christ as savior- well I can't think of any better reason than having your sins forgiven. Everyone- saved and lost- will die someday. It should not be death that drives you to the cross, but the knowledge that you will one day face God for your sins, and be held accountable for them.

I feel that a belief in God helps those of us that see no light at the end of the tunnel keep some kind of hope. It also saves us from the haunting skeletons, midgets and all the other people who have hurt us.

You believe in God to live in the love, joy and communion with God, not to die. We are spiritual beings who never die and who are merely engaged in a physical experience for the purpose of our own development.
