Bush and his cohorts cut taxes and underfund medical care for veterans, but continue to state how they are behind the troops. Here is an example of their "care" able to fund luxuruious VIP suites, while the veterans live in filth, vermin , and are poorly cared for. Thanks GW, and all the folks who voted for him.

Okay my first rebut Leogirl dont be so silly and short sighted sure spending is up 37% for veterans healthcare because we have more than 500% more acute and critically injured veterans. Now, you do the math. As for government workers not doing their job , again know what your talking about because apparently you do not. Walter Reed is staffed by private contractors as the last of the federal workers were pushed out by budget cuts.
Sgt sure congress approves budgets, but it is the Bush initiated budget cuts that the republican congress pushed through that have led directly to this sordid affair. So don't try to use semantics with me your ill equipped.

Justleft you should use your veterans benefits to get a bit of education, start with a class in civics. I, like any other American can speak out on any matter I see fit to, and if being a veteran somehow adds depth to my words, well I qualify there also.
As for your story regarding vetrans being spit on upon return from Viet Nam their is no documented case of that ever happening. If you can find one please bring it to light, you would be the first person to do so.

For cuddles for the record it is Bush and his cohorts which means him, the vice president, the secretary of defense, the secretary of the army and the heads of the committes overseeing veterans. All of them republicans the majority of them appointed by Bush. And since Bush declared himself the "decider" the ultimate head of the government; the man who runs everything it is appropriate for him to receive the blame.

Bush is an embarrassment to American history.
That he should pick a 5-time draft-dodger like Cheney to be VP is yet another reason to disrespect him as a man and as an American.
Next time you want war, have the guts to speak from experience, Mr. Decider and Mr. Manipulator.

Everything in the government is always underfunded isn't it. Its always Pres. Bush's fault also. The truth is that Congress wants to take over and screw it up even more for political gain and then blame the president even more. Like you liberals even care about us vet's. We have not forgotten about Vietnam and there are reports of do-gooders spitting on guys coming home now. Go help out with a soup line and leave us vet's alone.

Is it any worse than the fact that they offer housing that is actually labeled substandard as a choice to some active duty military because there is not enough regular housing to go around and they can't afford to live in the area around the bases on what they are paid? Worse than the fact that many of our military families qualify for food stamps, Earned Income Credit or Title One subsidies and free school lunches due to the poor pay their parents make? Worse than rats and roaches in the housing and the commissaries? Worse than the fact that on military bases there are no consequences for juvenile family members who commit offenses, so they are let loose to do it over and over again? There are a lot of problems that need addressing, and the hospital mess is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think a lot of people are angry. I will not blame either the Republicans or the Democrats. I will simply say that it is TOTALLY unacceptable that our veterans are not receiving the care they deserve.
I don't care whose fault it is -- I just hope they fix the problem.

It is bad, It is un-fair, it is un-just; but it is business as usual and has been going on of decades. Not only under George Bush.
It is only now getting all this hype because of current anti-war political activism.
The "filth" mold and peeling paint I've seen on TV is not as bad as I have seen in some private homes occupied by those screaming the loudest.

Calm your jets there. The ACTUAL funding under this President up 37% which is higher than any other administration. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the government employees that you can't fire for doing crap work. This has nothing to do with the President. There are rats in the white house and Congress. Guess what they all have in common? Government cleaning crews.

Why blame Bush for something he had nothing to do with. The VA was not suffering from lack of funds just inappropriate contracting. I guess You are one of those that Blame bush if your toilet backs up. Grow up. How about those congress members that are supposed to have oversight of the Va?? Guess their failure to do their job had nothing to do with it.
