My brother-in-law's mother butts into his life, and he's been married to my sister for over a decade. Tell her to cut the cord already.

I am 60 years old and my mother still has strong opinions about what I should do with my life. She is very vocal about expressing these opinions to me. Motherhood is not something one retires from. I have used her example and make very very big attempts NOT to express my opinion about the lives of my children to them or anyone else. So, obviously one does not become too old to learn from their mother. Good luck and God Bless you both.

Yes.yes yes, we are in our 50's and 60's and we still hear it. It is always "you do what you want but..." You can listen and then ignore, one sister always has to fight back but I prefer to just say yes and then do my own thing. I think because they are mothers and told us what to do always from birth, what to eat, when to go to the potty when to sleep they can't stop!

No, but my mom is a big worry type. I don't even tell her when I'm having little problems beacuse she gets so worried abuout me. So I always tell her I'm a-ok.
