Get OpenOffice.org Writer.It can save any type of text file into a pdf. No adds or anything. Just the straight file.

Download a software called "PrimoPDF", It's free and so easy to use in converting word files to PDFs :)

I use a different one at work, but pdf995 has the advantage of free legal watermark-free pdfs, and all they require is that you let the browser pop up once when you use it ... its a good fair offering for occasional home use.
you can also pay a small fee for no popup.
