everywhere she goes??? My boyfriend's lil sister carries around an 18" American Girl doll with her and takes it to restaurants and keeps it in a backpack with her. She also still uses trainer toothpaste and waters it down. Is this strange?? My sister is the same age, and she's completely and totally beyond this stuff. What do you all think?

I wouldnt really worry about it, the reason why she does it is because it makes her feel happy and/or safe. Like in some kids childhood when they felt sad or scared, their parents would give them a stuffed animal or a doll to hold on to, and it made them feel secure. Even adults, though very rare, still carry around things that make them feel happy and/or safe. Its okay, when she finds something or someone that makes her feel that way, she will probably let it go.

As for the toothpaste, I would try to get her onto a similar type of toothpaste, she might just like the flavor of it. But she needs to use an adult toothpaste otherwise her teeth wont be protected the way they are supposed to be. As for watering it down, I do the same thing, its more comfortable and more gentle on my gums.

I really wouldnt worry about, now if she seems to be reaching out for attention and she acts like a little kid or something, then there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Depends on what type of american girl doll. I know a lot of girls that like the ones that you can get that looks like you. If thats the case maybe thats why she likes to carry it around.

Yeah I would say its really weird for a girl her age to be still acting like that. She's 14 and most girls that age carry a real boyfriend around as their doll, lol... Anyway, she's too old to be carrying dolls.

Shes way to old. When she eventually grows up she will be embarrassed that she did this, you should help coax her out of it, does she only have an older brother? cuz sometimes you need and "older sister" there to do the trick...bring her to the mall, but tell her the doll should stay home and show her how to have fun like a teenager!!

Sounds like the girl's parents do not care about teaching their children age appropriate behavior. The simple answer is that it is weird for a 14 year to be indulging in behavior of a 4 year old.

Let her do what she wants. When she finds something else that she's interested in, she'll quit carrying it around. Like for me, I used to carry around my doll everwhere, but then found something else to replace it: iPod. He he.

Look, it's okay for her to do that. As long as she doesn't talk to it or anything, she is normal.

well some people mature faster than others. it's obvious that she was a mind of a lil girl still maybe you should have a talk with her and have her hang around older people in order for her to mature faster.
