Dont want anything fancy, just a couple poses to capture this time. I take pics at home all the time, but I want some professional ones. Sears has a good reputation, right?

I am always looking for a bargain, so when my son was born, I took him to 3 different Wal-marts (PCA Portraits) in the area and got 3 packages. Sorry, if that seems to cheap to anybody. :) I believe that over the past few years I have used at least 6 different Wal-marts (we've moved to another area) and several different photographers. My experience has been that it depends on the photographer. While I'm a proud mom and love all the pictures taken of my children, the photographer can make the difference in the pix you like and the ones you have to have. So if you find a photographer you like, you might want to try to use them every time. They have been accomodating in correcting mistakes or throwing in extras for things such as making appointments (not every time). But again, it's up to the photographer. Once, I contacted PCA directly because of a problem with some pictures. They sent me a certificate so that I could have pictures taken again.

The thing that first made me choose Wal-mart, was the fact that the package pose was the first "accepted" pose. (Which is great with newborns). It was my understanding that some places use the very first pose for the package. We've been through quite a few shots at times before getting to one I liked. There was even one time (with a cranky child) that we had to come back, because they took so many pix (during the whole session) that the "automated" camera wouldn't let them take anymore. The photographer seemed okay with this. We could just come back later when my child was not as cranky.

Another thing to keep in mind with Wal-mart is that their package is not always the same. It seems they do a larger package at Christmas. Right now they have a smaller advertised package which doesn't have enough pix to pass out to our whole family. For this reason, I am trying another place today, Portrait Innovations. I have a friend who has used them and likes them. Their package is larger and is comparable to the price of Wal-mart's larger package. We'll see what happens.

Oh, and another thing about Wal-mart. They offer the cards, which are 5x7 size (the actual picture size is 3 1/2 x 5). You can usually get about 10 or 20 for $9.95. When there's been a picture that I liked, but didn't want to pay so much for the pose, I just get a set of cards with that pose. And you can by the disk with the poses on it.

You do have to be careful about getting different poses than previous pix. They seem to have a tendency to want to seat them the same way for the package pose everytime. So if you get several packages over the years, you don't want them seated the same way everytime.

And as far as them looking cheap. I have some great pix from Wal-mart. I would put them up against pix from other more expensive studios. Just keep in mind the photographer makes the difference or it may just be my children. ;)

I like Sears and JCPenney. I heard Picture People does a great job too but they are a bit more money. It is great to take some professional shots at this time. I took 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.

We use Target's Portrait Studio, you can print out real good coupons through the website. I'm not sure if they offer the CD with Pictures, so you would have to ask, but what I like about them best is that the kids sit on the floor, not on any tables and the photographer uses a handheld camera so they get really good pictures. The hand held camera's are much better than the stationary cameras.

Don't waste your money at Sears or JC Pennys like I did. I barely got any pictures/poses and it cost me $155. The next time around I went to Walmart and got 6 poses and a bunch of pictures for $80.

I like the Target studio, because they don't lock you into a package. You can buy a sheet, which could be and 8x10 or a bunch of wallets or whatever for like 7.00. Most places offer packages that are cheap but if you want a second pose or just a few more extra pictures that's where they get you.

Only problem with Target is not all the stores have a picture studio. I have to drive to a neighboring town to go there.

I really liked JC Penney. I've used Sears and many others that are expensive, but have been most pleased with the people and the pictures at JC Penney. Good Luck!

I've always gone to the picture people. The pictures are always cute and they have many different props to use. The best thing is that they're done in 1hr and you can view the pictures and only take the ones you want. Plus there is never a sitting fee.

I have heard sears is good. I don't like walmart, they look very cheap. The best place I have ever had them taken is The Picture People, it was great, but kind of expensive, but they give you a free 10x13 just for having pictures made there. They have a website so you can find one near you. www.picturepeople.com

Picture people is great if you need just one print - You can go to their website most of the time and get a coupon for a free 8x10. You don't have to buy anything or pay a sitting fee, you get it for free. If you need multiples, I would go with JC Penny's or Portrait Innovations if you have one near you.

Sears is good. I've never used a JC Penney studio, but their coupons are often better than Sears'.
