It seem everytime the CIA finds some wannabe terrorist in some basement in Queens, or some farmer in Cali who may or may not have attended an Al Qaeda training camp, theu our thumping their chest how good of an intelligence job they did. And that srubing off some of our liberties and privacy is required for them to keep up "the good work". Yet they can not even find who dropped a dime on Valerie Plame, and she is one of their own they need to do "the good work". And by outing her, how many others working with her was exposed and executed? If I were a national of another nation and someone from the CIA asked me to help, I would not. I would be thinking if they can not even protect their own, how can they protect me and my family for helping take down my leaders? Maybe they(the CIA)where more loyal to the hand that feeds them(The White House)then their own?

The CIA go out and tpple governments. Wreck countries and ruin econemies all in a show of force to make them friendly to American Business,by this you can count on the countries water, electricity, hydro removed from the government and "PRIVITIVED" meaning some American Company will buy them way below value, raise the prices and cut of all services to all Urban areas (not worth bottom line for the extra for pennies the government paid to get these services to it's people. Then the CIA installs a Junta trained in Fort Pendlington or Bragg to protect the puppet government the U.S. wanted installed. Their own ciizens wouls kill them. However another crucial part of the job discription is granting the U.S. President "Plausable Deniabilaty" notice George Tennet supposedly failed so bad on 911, he still received many rewards and acalaids until the questions became too probing then he was given the medal of freedom or some such thing and forced to capitulate.
This is why I would love to see Karl Rove and Harriot Meyers under oath none of their dirty deeds are sanctioned in their job. Nor are they to create plausable deniabilay for moron george. So all actions taken on by them I should imagine to be accountable by them alone. Then again Cheney could have a secret team of law makers churning out excutive orders as fast as they can think them up. (he probably has the Presidents signitore by proxy by now anyways, whether George knows it or not....Mary.

The Director of the CIA is political. CIA agents need to know that their ID will never be broad cast to the public, for any reason, even retired, not active, or just with one.

Valerie was not covert

end of story

as for the CIA - they were gutted during the Clinton admin when he allowed 'contract' workers for annual jobs - instead of lifers who underwent FBI background scrutiny

thanks Bill - can't wait to see what Hillary will do

Working stiffs like you and me following orders.
Is it so unusual when that is the system all the way to the top, has always been, and always will be. At least until the walls are up on the borders to prevent escapes.
