That's really neat that you like singing. Music is a great thing to be involved in. I'm very excited for you! As for getting noticed, here are a couple tips:

Try making a CD-Advertize, advertize, advertize...
Sing at places, festivals-start with your community
Try competitions

Well, I've been a singer since I was 4. I am 34 right now. I just missed the age cut off & then was extremely mad when they upped it last year fro American Idol! Everyone was bugging me, telling me I should go audition! Well, I'm too old to go audition!

Not to say that I never got noticed, or offered a deal, mind you, so I'll tell you how that happened.

I was writing songs, and recording them with a friend. On the side, I was gigging with a band that did festivals, and corporate parties. Aside from that, I was writing songs, and recording with a band that had two guys who each owned their own recording studio. The band I mentioned third, was practicing in one of the recording studios, and as well, that recording studio had an other band that practiced & recorded there. The name of that band was Lucky Boy's Confusion. They were in the hot seat... had record labels looking at them. I met with the reps from Arista records. The only reason they looked at me was because the recording studio we practiced at was where they were coming to see LBC, and so, the owner (who was in my band) slid over a copy of the music I had been writing & recording with my song writing partner (the first project mentioned). The music is really good! He offered me a deal, though I was not even present. The deal wasn't what I wanted! I would not conform to someone else's picture of what a band should look like, or have my music messed with by producers that tend to make most music out now-a-days sound alot the same. I liked our sound! So did everybody else! So, I didn't accept the deal! Mostly, sing Karaoke & enter contests EVERYWHERE! I did, and ran into RL reps on a regular basis. They are always reps around looking for the next great singer, but I do have to say, if you can find a spot on a TV show, you'll have better odds! I am just lucky! I have to tell you, my father works for a company that owns 3 record labels, and I have mingled back stage at concerts featuring artists like Eric Clapton.... It is indeed, mostly, being in the right place at the right time & getting what you expect to get! As well, you need to make sure you have something to hand a rep. when you run into one! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A CD OF YOUR TALENT WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES!

Good luck! Everyone's story is different!
