I don't think it's right for anyone to use such terms, let alone leaders and/or public officials. When you are in the spotlight, you need to watch what you say.

I think people need to stop being "politically correct" to a certain extent. If you look at the literal definition of the term, it means that you get yourself so deeply involved in situation that you can't extricate yourself from it. Many people just hear the term and go wild saying Romney and/or McCain are racist. I would suggest before charging people with that, you look at the comments in context.
In the case of Romney, I heard his comment regarding the "Big Dig" tragedy where a young women was killed as a result of ceiling collapse. He used the term correctly an in context. All the PC people were commenting how it was a racist remark. If you listened to what he said, it had nothing to do with being racist. One may not like or agree with Romney's positions, he has never demonstrated he has a racist bone in his body. We should stop, listen and evaluate before we jump to conclusions and slap labels on people.

"stuck in tar baby" is a literary reference from the book, "Song of the South". It refers to getting deeper and deeper into a problem so that you can't get out of it. It has no racial overtones, or if it does, I was never aware of it. The rabbit, "Brer Rabbit" getting stuck in tar baby was one of my favorite stories as a child and I never heard of any racial overtones other than the fact that these stories were originally told by African American storytellers. I am sure that somebody is making an issue out of nothing.

I think that its a bunch of crap for Black leaders to be pitching a fit because he used a term from a story from long ago. He did not say it in a rude way toward anyones skin color at all so why do they have to make a huge f***ing deal about "oh he is aking racist remarks". Its okay for black people to call each other ******* and them to call us crackers but if someone says something like Tarbaby the crap hits the fan?

Hmm...if that's from the book, then it's more of a "should have done that, really" kinda thing. They know people are hanging on their every word. Bad choice of phrase.

Absolutely DEPLORABLE !
They purport to be educated and worthy of our adoration
They are in fact recluse blockheads who should get out of our way and let the people see a decent person in government.

Racist remarks have no place in campaigns today. Well it looks like I am moving more and more toward the Democrat no matter who it is.

granted it wasn't the best term he could have used, but if he did not mean it as a derogatory term what's the big deal?
