A woman had her face savagely slashed beyond repair by her wild pet dog, according to the medical community. A couple of months ago, she accepted their offer to perform the first face transplant on her. The face was from a deceased person. I don't know the specifics, sorry.

It's about time France did something of global importance and interest. England did in-vitro's during the early 80's, South Africa did the heart transplant back in 1967, the Russians had Sputnik in 1957, the Americans landed on the moon in 1969, the Iron Curtain (communism) came down in 1978, the Berlin Wall in 1989, and so on.

Granted, they did the Eiffel Tower in 1889 and donated the Statue of Liberty (Statue de la Liberté), to the United States in 1886.

They maintained a low profile for over a century.

It was a partial face transplant which was totally successful and the woman is recovering well.
A facial transplant is much more difficult than a solid organ transplant i.e. kidney, liver, heart because all nerves and muscle must reattached or the face would have no animation.

Yes i am aware of that incident and like yourself, just know the broad outlines, just "glad" if that is the word that the lady not only has been helped towards rectifying, but will benefit others' in similar situations through her adherence/bravery to medical advancement. But others, specifically -ssr_bc_09-, obviously know their dogs and the dog world. Hit this question, to applaud the French woman's courage, but also to again connect to a fellow member and her search. I am woefully ignorant on how to address you directly, (privately)and an odious ex-husband preclude's me from entering the whole Yahoo community, as well as there are some strange people out there, I also have an under age son. Anyway do not want to intrude on this relevant question-in your addition , noted your mare's name, also, as you have her registration#, the other respondant gave good contacts. Only thing i can add is that the Half-Arab registery, has split so much now,if she was imported or her foaled in the 70's , hard to trace. through current anglo-arab assoc. Applaud your desire to see her "kids", it made my father's day when his former horses progency where found. I can see from your answers your the lady to go to for dog breed questions' I am contemplating buying a Rhodesian Ridgeback?? would like your thoughts/suggestions. Will post under pets/dogs, please respond. Your the first member to add me as a contact, conssidering our shared "quest", allbeit, not same time , I am flattered. If your search does not pan out under/in Half-Arab registeries, let me know, Have further points to access/impart to locate her foals. Again apologies for not specifically staying on point regarding quesrtion. Much succsess. dawn

This has already been in the news a long time ago. And what are you doing with this in the pet section? It's not really a question at all! Are you just trying to get a reaction?

I heard about that. As sick as some people may find that, its an amazing way to change somebody's life. Think about if you were that person, and (not to be mean, but) people stared at you like you were a monster. Then imagine the feeling of looking closer to normal. I love SOME of the medical advances...

That sounds really gross, to have the face of a dead woman. I've never heard of that before.
