That is so freakishly weird! I was just thinking about her the other day!

She's got such an amazing voice!

Anyways, I would assume she's at home in the South of England or somewhere...

Here's what I found out, for your eyes only...

Biography for Dido

Date of Birth
25 December 1971, London, England, UK

Birth Name
Florian Cloud De Bounevialle Armstrong (What an unusual name! No wonder she needed a dildo to get over it!!!)

Height
5' 7" (1.70 m)

Trivia

Her first musical instrument was the recorder.

Her song "Thank You" was sampled by rapper Eminem in his controversial hit single "Stan".

Brother is Roland 'Rollo' Armstrong from the music group Faithless. Dido provided vocals on their recordings and shows.

She entered London's Guildhall School of Music at the age of six.

Was named after an African warrior queen.

Was raised without television.

Worked as a literary agent (her father's profession) while going to law school and singing with her brother Roland 'Rollo' Armstrong's band, Faithless.

Her debut album, "No Angel", was released in 1999. But only when the TV show "Roswell" (1999) used her "Here With Me" as its theme and rapper Eminem sampled her "Thankyou" into his "Stan" on his smash, "The Marshall Mathers LP", did Dido gain the attention of mainstream audiences.

Born in England but considers herself Irish.

Took part in the Band Aid 20 re-recording of "Do They Know It's Christmas?". [November 2004]

Winner of the 2002 Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year.

Personal Quotes

(On her unusual name) "To be called one thing and christened another is actually very confusing and annoying. It's one of the most irritating things that my parents did to me. I'm still irritated by it. Florian is a German man's name. That's just mean. To give your child a whole lot of odd names. They were all so embarrassing."

"It feels like someone's rushed in and taken all your clothes off." - on hearing her songs played in public

"I would not have had the opportunity to achieve what I have done without the encouragement of excellent teachers. Every child must have the opportunity to write songs and learn an instrument."

"It is much more satisfying to write your own songs. Otherwise you are only as good as the next batch of songwriters. You have to put in the hours too. I did eight tours of the US, playing as many gigs as possible before I was a hit here. As well as being much more satisfying, writing your own songs gives you a better chance of having a longterm career."

"Playing the recorder and taking music lessons was a great escape and helped open up my mind as a child."

"It can be just playing two chords and making up lyrics about what you did that day or putting forward a point of view. That's how I started. It's fun and we ought to get children writing. I don't make political comments but I do want the Government to put music right at the top of the cirriculum. Having that option was vital for me."

Hope this satisfies your curiosity!

When Aeneas escaped Troy, he stopped off in Carthage. He had a love affair with Queen Dido, but was instructed by Zeus to leave, to fulfil his destiny. She tried everything to make him stay, but he did the sneaky thing and sailed off before dawn.

Dido killed herself. The ruins of Carthage are in Tunisia.
