I don't know if your paper can include some controversy, but in my opinion. hydrogen is a boondoggle, a waste of taxpayer money on research that will never amount to anything. It is a distraction, to forestall the development of true alternatives to gasoline.

Hydrogen does not occur freely anywhere on earth. it exists only in an already "burned" state, that is, you can't use it without chemically extracting it first - and that process takes lots of energy - more energy than the hydrogen will give back.
*
This means that hydrogen is not a source of energy, but only a carrier of energy, like a battery. It's like a boulder at the bottom of a hill. That boulder would have a lot of power - if it were at the top of the hill, rolling down - but first, you have to get it to the top of the hill. The boulder, itself, is not a source of energy, but only stores the energy you used to push it uphill.
*
Nearly all of the public discussion on this topic treats hydrogen as though it were a source of energy that can fill our energy needs. This is a serious misconception. It is not, any more than that boulder at the bottom of the hill.

Here's some links that may help. This is not a subject I know a lot about. My son has a truck that runs on veggie oil so I sort of got into the whole alt fuel thing when he was converting his truck from diesel to bio-diesel/veggie oil.

It's kind of cool. He can poor veggie oil directly into the tank and the thing actually runs. We did look into hydrogen at the time but he went with the veggie oil conversion.
