Forget the real details, just organize a community in your class and think about what rights are important to 2nd graders and then produce their bill of rights and then after they have experienced it first hand, explain what the real Bill of Rights is.

Put pieces of colored paper on the floor with the bill of rights on them. Have the kids stand in a line. Say " step on the 2nd bill of rights". If they get it right give them candy or some kind of prize. If they get it wrong, tell them the correct answer and encourage them to keep going. Do all the bills of rights at random so you go through all the kids. Hope this helps!

First, water it down to words they understand and print them out for each child (or team if you'd like).

Second bring in a bunch of magazines and have them find pictures that relate to each amendment.

Third, have them cut them out and paste them in a booklet along with the words that match.

"Bind" the books by three-hole punching them & bringing in red, white and blue yarn cut to the right size.

You may also want to have them present them to the class, explaining why they chose certain pictures.

I'd use gold stars to put on the front cover for the "best example".
