Are their cultural misunderstandings or am I just unlucky?

It could definitely be a cultural thing. I dated an arabic for a month and he was such a jerk!!! I married an indian and he is the sweetest thing on earth.

I'm Iranian and I would never marry an Iranian man, I married American. Even the most liberal Iranian men do not have the level of compassion, understanding and consideration that a woman would want. Plus, I rarely ever saw any that were attractive.
So you are unlucky and there are many cultural misunderstandings. If you don't have children wait and see if your husband will improve if not I would leave him.

i'm a female who was born in Iran but i'm not married...no, of course not all Iranian men(some are really sweet) but the ones that are really religious could be like that for some reason :S or maybe they just want power(masculinity) or he might have a mental problem or that's just the way his personality is so can u see that culture is not the reason or maybe the only reason?... never think of one person the same as a whole, everyone is different, it has got nothing to do much with their origin u guys just dont have the same culture and that's making it difficult for you and maybe him too, plus there are good and bad in every country of the world. There's definitly cultural misunderstandings in this case. Hope it works out, good luck.

Are you saying your married to an Iranian man? If so would you not be the one qualified to know about his culture? In every nation and country in the world there are good and bad husbands. Many abuse there wife's in several ways, can you name me a country that is excluded in this? America, Britain, France, Australia, Brazil, Algeria, Greece, Alaska, Germany, japan..........Can you name one? If you have a bad husband he is simply that a bad husband it has nothing to do with his nationality. If you don't like the way he treats you, leave.

most of them treat with their wives like dirt. but not all of them. some are very good with their wives.
but i can tell u most of them are sooo bad.
