Yes, you can work as a English teacher (very popular in Vietnam even you have no teaching skill). Or you can work for a non government project.
Or - do you think to be a tour leader for a travel company?
Happy working

Tom T is correct (as usual) in that most foreigners find work as language teachers. Without knowing your educational and work background, it is difficult to recomend any kind of employment. The following site may help, it is a Vietnamese job board and training site.

One suggestion I would make is to spend a month or two living in Vietnam as a tourist to see if you like it first. It is a very beautiful country and the place where I will soon retire, but it's very, very different from where I grew up (America).
One thousand dollars a month will enable you to live very confortably while you travel and explore. You may even meet a future employer in your travels.
Good Luck !

The best prospect is to become a teacher of English. First, get certified through such program as CELTA
http://www.cambridgeesol.org/teaching/celta.htm to gain the proper credentials. You can be trained and certified for CELTA in Vietnam
http://www.languagelink.edu.vn/celta.asp by native English speakers (Americans and Australians). That way, you can enter Vietnam with a student visa.
People who got certified in CELTA often find work as soon as they got through with the course, especially in Vietnam, so that's the best way to proceed. Language schools in Vietnam usually sign either a 6-month or a 1-year contract with a teacher, which can be renewable, of course.
It takes some advance costs ($1500 in tuition for CELTA, pretty much anywhere in the world) ) plus living expenses for a month but you will recoup the investment pretty quick after you graduate. It isn't exceptionally hard but it ain't easy either! It's very worthwhile, of course.
P.S. Thanks, Rick M for the compliment and confidence. I'm pleased to be of help when I can.

Unless you are sent there by a foreign company to work, it will be extremely difficult to get work. If you did get work, the pay will very very low. It's a beautiful country to travel to and the costs are reasonable.
