Ok well the doctor told me that I could go any day now. Well he said when the contractions are 3 to 5minutes apart to come to the hospital. Well I just wanna know if this is the oncoming of labor ok...............Ive had contractions since last night they where about 20minutes apart, well I did not sleep well AT ALL lol ok well since about 12:30pm theyve been about 10minutes apart, lots of pain in my back and pressure in my pelvic area.
Well I decided i needed to take a shower(just incase we had to take a fast trip to the hospital i usally take one before i go to bed) Well I did and the contractions seem to get more intense, and I ended up getting a really BAD Headache, I know just set and wait, but I need to know what to expect in the future.........or whats to come tonight, Also Ive been having BH contractions inbetween(somtimes) the painful ones!! Thanx for the help!!

Yes, it sounds like you're in labor. I was the same exact way -- woke up with them 20 min apart, then they jumped to 10 min apart, then they jumped to 5 min apart. All labors are different but the fact that they are coming closer together and are getting stronger is a pretty good sign this is the real deal. Plus, you said they got stronger in the shower, another good indicator. If it was false labor they typically are relieved while in the shower but they are intensified if it's real labor as the water on your nipples stimulates labor.

The standard is to wait until your contractions are 5 minutes apart, 1 minute long for an hour before going to the hospital. If you're worried for any reason, call your doc, that's what they're there for. Good luck!

Sounds like you are starting labor. But I went into the hospital to early and they sent me home because they werent strong enough. I went to the hospital the second time when I couldn't sit while a contraction was happening.

Well it depends on you. When i was pregnant with my second child i had contractions that came every 3 minutes and no baby. If this continues call your doctor. Maybe he will let you come in to see if you are really in labor. Good Luck

I'd say if theyre regular and increasing in intensity THATS what you should go by. Or if your water breaks.

My contractions were 10 minutes apart even while pushing. But my water broke before I went into labor.

Just call your OB, thats the best idea.

In active labor your contractions will get longer, stronger, and closer together over a period of an hour or more. Sometimes when early labor begins we forget to take care of ourselves. Try drinking a glass of water, eating something light, and taking a warm shower or bath. Lay day and see if they continue. If not, they are warmups. If so, and they are 5 min. or less apart head to the hospital. Birth blessings to you. PS. Instead of squeezing your husbands hand try very hard to RELAX your hands. When the contraction starts take a deep breath in through your nose, breathe slowly out through your mouth. When the contraction ends, take another deep cleansing breath in thru your nose and blow it all out through your mouth. Then relax in between.

It seems like you're really beginning labor, but why wouldn't your doctor wait until after 37 weeks when the lungs are mature to strip your membranes?

you should wait it out. I don't know how far you live from the hospital, but you will probably more comfortable at home. If you are not far from the hospital, wait until they are 5 minutes apart or your water breaks - good luck.

If you are in TRUE LABOR, Hot showers WILL intensify contractions. Have someone there to support you.

But, thats a GOOD THING. It' helps your body speed up labor.

Were you at all dilated during your last exam? If so when was that?
You need to get off of the computer and call your doctor back.
