harder is the wrong word. It's riskier, but it depends on YOUR BODY. Statics and studies say, and as I learned in college, there is a slightly higher chance of you having health complications with/during your pregnancy than if you were in your twenties/ early thirties.. It may be slightly difficult for your body to adjust to to having a baby grow inside of you and harder for you to get back in shape after you have it. I guess the best example would be a rubber band. An older one has a hard time stretching out and takes longer to go back to its original size than a newer one. Honestly, don't be worried about it. 35 isn't old or too old to be having children and you being in great shape makes your low risk level even less. People now a days are having babies at much older ages. The risks that you may hear about apply more to women who are in their mid 40s early 50s and are giving birth to children. As long as you don't smoke, stay in shape and healthy, you'll be fine. Good luck!

It is a bit 'harder' to have a first baby after the age of 35, but if you have a 'good OB/GYN doctor' who knows all of the 'risks' involved, and you 'stop drinking' at least a month before you even 'try' to get pregnant (drinking can cause problems in getting pregnant, and the incidence of 'fetal alcohol syndrome' goes up after the 'mom' is 30), then you should do 'better than a younger woman' would because you are older and 'wiser' and will probably be 'more careful' of yourself and the baby inside you while you are pregnant. I had two children after 35, but they were my 4th and 5th, so I can't tell you that the 'actual labor' will or won't hurt you more or less ... but if you WANT a baby then you should HAVE ONE and LOVE IT ... and don't listen to all of the 'old wive's tales' about what can 'go wrong' when you are 'older' when you get pregnant ... just ask your doctor what 'risks' are there and trust that advice.

My mother her last baby @ 45 (18yrs after her previous child)-- go for it! If you are in shape and your doctor has no concerns don't listen to other people. Having a baby is hard on your body -- period -- no matter how old you are. It just takes a little work to get it back. Have that baby!

Well I can tell you women do it everyday. Giving birth at your age. Your not old!! But your not in your prime time for child bearing. If you can get pregnant, your even at a higher chance of having twins now!! But if you are healthy and you feel you can do it. Go ahead!!!

Well, first of all, you won't know any different. If you had a baby at 25 and then at 35, you might be able to feel a slight difference, but having your first at 36/37, you won't know any different.

You've got 4 years on me, but I don't think it's harder with age....the barrage of stupid tests they subject you to is harder. The constant calling you "advanced maternal age" is certainly offputting, but I don't think it's physically harder. I think emotionally it's easier the older you get(for me it was anyway)
