I set out to walk the path of an authentic human being, based on the beliefs of the culture that adopted me while I was workign with them (Maya Indians). It involves finding an inner vision, living mindfully, and facing yuor fears. My short term goal is to repay their favor by helping them find sustainable solutions to their poverty, and define their own future. This is a goal I have been working on for 5 years, and it is very rewarding and frustrating. My long-term challenge is to find that vision, and make sure that every day is devoted to living it as the type of person I am supposed to be. I get a lot of misunderstanding, isolation, and doubt out of it; but I get an equal amount of understanding, awareness, peace, and fundamental empowerment. I will know how well I succeeded when I die, and move on to the next world.

I decided to homeschool my 2 children because I felt my oldest (7yo at the time) wasn't getting the help he needed at school. I decided I could teach my children better at home, while also teaching them values and social skills they wouldn't get in the classroom setting. I homeschooled my children for 10 years - until their high school years (2 years ago). It was great. We grew as a family, I helped my children have tons of opportunities with educational preferences and social preferences - they focused their learning and social activities on what they wanted to do, taking theatre classes, gymnastics, learning a lot of history, creative writing, etc. They are both excelling in high school and are looking forward to starting college - one this coming fall and the other in fall 2008. I would do it all over again if I could.

to speak up.
i am the shyest person on earth. i'm okay on the net, when no one can see me, but when someone talks to me in person, i crawl inside my shell and just answer things in short sentances like "fine" or i would just nod. i want to get out of that, and change my reputation to "talkative teen"
