you have to pick Podolski because out of the 3 his team did the best(3rd) and he had the most goals(3). he also made his penalty shot against argentina.
However i think a case should also be made for Schweinsteiger b/c he had 2 goals (virtually 3 with the og by petit) and he set up 3 or 4 goals with his passes.
i know it might sound a little odd beucase hes a defender but Lahm should also be mentioned. He scored a goal and played every minute of all 7 of their games. A part of a german defense that gave up only 6 goals in the whole cup.

Although Messi is one of my favorite players, Podolski contributed more for his team then Rooney and Messi Combined.

did you mean the last FIFA World Cup? Lukas Podolski has won the first ever Best young Player award at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals in GERMANY last summer.

Actually i think it was either
Bastian Schweinsteiger- actually played better than Ballack the whole tournament, scored 3 goals in 3rd place game
or
Asamoah Gyan- basically led the Ghana team to the round of 16, scored a crucial goal against the Chzechs!
