I have gone through what seems like a million B/c's trying to find the right one. this one is AMAZING!! It seems like the only side affect that i have is that my period have gone away. I love it.

The insertion, I wont lie, doesn't feel great. But I can tell you if you had your water broke its comparable to that. They clip your cervix first so they can hold it in place, then they put this metal rod thing in through my cervix in my uterus and moved it from side to side. (they were measuring to see if my uterus had returned to a normal size (i just had a baby)) and then they put it in and trimmed the strings(which look and feel like fishing line so if you your husband and you are messing around he may feel them, not while having sex though) Then i was done. I cramped for a few days, no worse than PMS. I will get it again after my next child. It didn't hurt that bad!!

What ever you do..dont get DEPOPREVERA (DEPO) unless you would like to look like a beached whale. You will gain soooooooooo much weight (in most cases) I went from 110 to 160 in less than a year. I didnt even gain that much weight while pregnant. Plus I was depressed and had no sex drive.

I got a Mirena IUD in about 1 month ago. It was extremely painful! My midwife numbed my cervix by giving me a shot. THAT was really painful, and then I felt everything so it must not have worked. I have been heavily bleeding ever since. It is really annoying because of the money I have spent on feminine products and having to change it every few hours. Yesterday, I went to check the string and I could feel the plastic poking out of my cervix! I called my doctor and she said it's OK if it falls out by iteself (but not to pull it or help it in anyway) and to make and appointment first thing on Monday so they could take it out. Now I am left with the option of another painful insertion, more bleeding OR a different method......sigh

I have Mirena and love it. After I had it inserted I had a few months of spotting off and on. I did not have any pain having it inserted but many women do. It is like going for a pap smear and the IUD is inserted in the cervix. I highly recommend it.

I had mine put in in January. I had mine put in while I was
having an operation so I didn't feel any pain. I also didn't
have any cramping after. I heard some women do have
alot of cramping after, but I know that for up to 8 months
after it is put in you can experience cramps due to the IUD.

Try depoveria for birth control I used that for years, and it
was great. I got an injection every three months, and with
it you don't get your period either. I thought it was great.

I had to switch due to other medical problems.
