the waiting list isnt very long about two weeks but i guarentee you driving instructor will not be too pleased you have put in for it as they will put you in for it when they think you are ready, what is the point of rushing it as your only going to wate £100 pound of your money and then have to do it again and wasted your time, wait and see what your instructor says, he/she will put you up for your driving test when you are ready just be patient! you may just be a slow learner thats not me saying it that to be nasty but its better to be prepared!

After 50 lessons you have to be comfortable on the road. I am afraid that your driving instructor is making money on you. Book your test straight away. You have to do it - not your instructor and if you give him a chance he will teach you for ever... It seems that kind of instructor. I went with Traffic and it was horrible. Changed that with Britannia and was more lucky. Waiting list you will know when you call to the Driving Test centre. Try do book your test at school holidays time: less traffic, less hassle. Good Luck!!

Driving is a privilege and not your given right. Many young people have lost their lives by being too anxious to get out there on the road and just start driving. Fifty lessons may sound like an awful lot to you, but if you have not gone the extra step and taken defensive driving lessons, then you are not fully prepared to deal with the weather conditions and the weavers and the tailgaters. That is not to mention the crazies that are out there.

If you are of legal age and know the rules of the road and can pass the parking exam, then yes, you can ask to be scheduled for the driving test. You might also inquire of your parents, as to how they feel about you driving at such a young age.

Keep in mind, though, that there is more to driving other than a flashy car and the speed at which it will go. I also suggest that you learn how to gas up a car and check the oil and change a flat tire and fill the window washer fluid reserve.

Drive safely and responsibly and remember, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

50 is a lot! I took about 35-40 and passed 1st time. You can take the test when YOU want to. Your instructor doesnt have to agree, although i think they can withdraw use of the car. Ask your instructor how long you think it will be. He will know best (although there is a risk of him getting a few more lessons out of you... £20 a go adds up!!). Maybe go out with a parent/adult and ask their advise.

GOOD LUCK!!!

AS AN ADI (Driving Instructor) I know there are many who HOLD ONTO PUPILS this is not fair but happens IF YOU feel like you are being treated like this book a LESSON with another ADi Your instructor need noy know (BETTER NOT LOL) Get them to ASSESS you then if they say how many roughly try going back yo yours see if he'll do a MOCK TEST and tell you how long WEIGH UP the difference
BUT!!!! Remember new guy may say what you want to hear !! They are to willing to take money at times.... IF you are with a big national i will say they are generally known to do the holding thing....
WHICHEVER WAY IT GOES GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TEST

The waiting list depends on your area and you will get a better idea when you go to book or ask your instructor, they should have a good idea cos he will be putting other people forward for their tests.

It doesn't really matter how many lessons you've had, it depends how much your picking up. It took me about 30 and I was desperate to do it but my instructor was honest and I trusted him when he told me I wasn't ready. I passed first time.

You will also need to have your theory and hazard perception done before you can sit the test so make sure you have them.

If you suspect your instructor is keeping you hanging on maybe book a one of lesson with another instructor to get a 2nd opinion.

to be quite honest your driving instructor must know when he thinks you'll be ready so maybe he's politly saying your not...... and to be honest the waiting list is'nt more than 3 weeks at the most, and yes you can say BOOK ME A TEST you money grabbing instructor,

i only had 50 lessons and i knew when i was ready because my lessons became boring and i started to get frustrsted

also 'just a thought' maybe your instructor fancies the pants of you and gets a kick out of seeing you each week!!!!!!

good luck with the test

Of course you can, you can book a test yourself you don't have to go through your tutor, 50 is quite a lot, he isn't ripping you off is he?
