Just wodering because i make a lot of remarks on George Bush's decisions on our war and other things that people focus on too much because news channels are focusing on 1 topic(ana nicole smith) rather than informing misleading people on our war. Such as the fact that some things that are blamed on our president isn't really his fault but people don't understand that. Plus, I'm not too much a Bush person but on some things i defend him with but others i don't and i usually make my unpatriotic remarks publicly rather than privatley such as at school and other public places. Thats why i wanted to know wheter or not it is safe to express my feeling rather than keeping the bottled up inside.

It is not illegal to make unpatriotic remarks. This right is protected in the 1st amendment, the right to free speech. If it were illegal it would definately be going against our rights!

no its not illegal, thats what the first ammendment is all about. I wish it was though, because maybe then these liberal democrats would not just insult everybody, rather than have intelligent arguments. All liberals do is criticize our president, and the whole republican party. How about saving some of that energy for cleaning this country up? How about helping get some of these illegals out of here? Or, go help out your community in some way, rather than protest everything? What good do you lib protestors do, besides make everyone hate you more than they already do? Bush will be gone in a year and a half. Time to give it up already. And dont worry, when Rudy Giuliani is elected, he will do a great job.

Have you ever heard of the espionage act? During and since WWII, the government has been arresting and harrssing people for disagreeing or generally making remarks against our gov. Movie stars were being black listed and interrogated for having socialist views. They were being called communist and were harrassed so much by the gov. that no one would even hire them and they were out of work. This happened to many people in all kinds of jobs. People who had strong opinions about the gov were even being sent to Russia (and they were Am. citizens!) indefinately on the premise that they were communist, which they weren't. There was a couple, the Rosenbergs, who were executed b/c they were accused of being spies. It has never been proven that they were.
My point with all this? The gov. used the espionage act to get rid of anyone who did not completely agree with its policies. Although we have freedom of speech, there are ways to get around it and the gov. can make your life hell b/c you speak your mind about politics. The espionage act applies to anyone and is in effect during wartime. FYI: we are considered at war with Iraq right now. So it would apply to us right now. Also the Patriot Act is basically an extention of the Espionage Act, but updated for todays modern society. The point is: they were doing it during WWII and they can do it today. These laws and acts are still in effect.
Read A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. This guy is amazing, the things he uncovers about this issue and others are unbelievable. Read the chapter called The Socialist Challenge and A People's War. Its not all about socialism and communism, its about anyone who has an opinion about the gov. It applies especially to anyone trying to disuade people from joining the military as well. I hope I answered your question!

No, it is not illegal. We still have free speech - even though I'm sure if Bushie could get away with it, he would suspend that too.

I'm sorry you feel that "somethings that are blamed on our president isn't really his fault". You are terribly misguided....but then, I guess you are pretty young.

When you grow up and are mature, you will know that everyone surrounding the president serves at his pleasure.....he makes the decisions, he makes the policy.... In Mr. Bushes case, he is a liar and is the worst president our country has ever had....

It's amazing how many people seem to think that exercising our Constitutional rights to express our opinions, and our Constitutional responsibility to participate in the political process are unpatriotic.

It's almost as if they are defining patriotism as anything they like, and unpatriotic as anything they disagree with.

Patriotism is supporting your country and standing up for its ideals. In the US that means supporting and defending the constitution. Which is why govt and military and officers are required to swear an oath defending the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

If someone attacks the core principles of the Constitution, and seeks to harm them, then they are an enemy of the constitution and by definition an enemy of America. If that person is is an elected official, that just makes them a domestic enemy, rather than a foreign one.

Asking if it is safe is debatable. Like many before me said, this is Legal under the constitution to an extent. In this day & age it is considered politically incorrect to speak of politics & religion in public since it is such a deep seeded debate & such opiniated people on these issues. So no, its not illegal, just be knowledgable about a subject you want to open your mouth about! :-)

There is nothing illegal about voicing your opinion. Never will be. This is called freedom of speech. However, ACTIONS may be whole different ball game. Actions can result in treason, conspiracy and so such. So, you are okay, you are only voicing your feelings and our soldiers from our past and present fought for you to be able to do that!

I don't think it's illegal as long as you are not advocating the violent overthrow of the government or some other flagrant form of treason. However, you have to be careful about who's listening, because you have to be prepared to take the flak from those who disagree with you. Not all of said flak will be strictly verbal. Some will actually get physical towards you and your friends, family, or your property. Others will indulge in forms of ostracization and disapproval could conceivably be reflected in your grades.

Its illegal to not obide by the constitution. What democracy was founded on. Its called america and is freedom of speech. This isnt nazi germany, or north korea, where you have a dictatorship,in which someone tells you what you cant say, especially when a majority of it are facts. He is the one that has decieved the nation. Do you think anyone can trust him? He is supposed to be our leader. And lead everyone in the country to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
