I imagine she was campaining for a society that took better care of its people. In communism the state(government) takes care of all the needs of thier people.

Under communism there is little or no unemployment and homelessness, which is a glaring contradiction to the way things are in the US.

Many people feel that as the richest nation in the world we should not have these problems(maybe they're right).

However, what I think Jane Fonda, doesn't get is that communism doesn't work, at least not in a large country such as Russia. I offer the collapse of the communist regime in Russia back in 1989 as empirical evidence. However, it does seem to be working on a small scale. I offer Cuba as emperical evidence that it can work.

More proof that communism doesn't work. Karl Marx said that capitalism would collapse from its contradictions and this would lead to socialism and eventually to communism. Hasn't happened yet.

Lastly, look at China, the most populated communist country in the world (1 billion people) is slowly inching toward capitalism;need I say more.

Proof? In the former Soviet Union, a very small percentage of privately owned farms produced over 80% of the food.

jane manages to be self-absorbed and blur her boundaries all over every one at the same time. that takes some tallent. her daughter is a single mom and lives in my old neighborhood and jane used to come to the block meetings with her and try to get in OUR neighborhood business. Why don't you explain what it is about communism that you don't like? Please do not refer to totalitarianism, fascism, and other abuses of power that have nothing whatsoever to do with communism.

p.s. there is no democrat with the guts to get us to socialism, let alone communism. but, as marx said, communism is an outcome of end state capitalism, and we are definitely at end stage capitalism.
