Atheists even occasionally say "God damn..." It doesn't mean they believe in God. It's just an expression appropriated from their ambient culture.

Christians aren't the only ones who say "oh my gosh." It's an expression of English that everyone is taught since childhood.

An atheist would be more likely to say "oh my God" without fear.

Do you worship "Gosh?"

No, as a confirmed atheist I would feel comfortable using either god or gosh, since both are completely made up and neither of them have any real meaning.

BTW the term "gosh" is not related to diety. It is a contraction of the obsolete phrase "Land 'O Goshen"

I say "oh my god" all the time. I also say "God bless you" when people sneeze. It is certainly force of habit as I was brought up as a Roman Catholic but I also don't think that it does me or anyone else any harm.

What to you think of a Christian who uses the name of God in vain? Is he worse or better than someone who doesn't believe in God doing the same thing?

God to an atheist means nothing, so why not use the word as a curse to upset the religious folk?? As an atheist I have been known to throw in a few Jesus H MF...in before just because it irks people...

No, "Oh my gosh" is just an expression after all.

First, it's 'oh my god'. You must be a theist because your fear of death does not allow you to take the lords name in vain based on your years of mental indoctrination. Now to your question: Atheists say oh my god and god damn it a)because we're smart enough to realize based on emperical facts that god does not exist in its present mentally realised form and b) it is mere expression and does not necessarily refer to deity.
