BCP shouldnt affect your ability to have kids when you want to have kids. I dont know what kind of pill your on, but many BCP's have awesome long term effects (like significantly cutting down on ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers) Talk to your OBGYN and make sure that everything's still ok down there. It should be, and you should be able to have kids whenever you *want* to!

I doubt that there's any time limit established. I have been on one form or another of birth control for most of my adult life, with only a 2 month hiatus when I became pregnant and then my 9 month pregnancy. Other than that, I've used BC for 20 years.

Until you want to have kids! I have been on them for 11 years... minus the 9 months I was pregnant. Just understand that sometimes with the "build up" it can take some time after stopping them to get pregnant, I however was a different story! Took my last pill, was on my period, two days after it ended I was pregnant! But not all woman are that way. When you are ready for a child talk with your gyno, it is best to do this anyway to make sure all is well and good for the wishful mommy=)

I haven't read any studies that say there's a time limit for a woman to be on birth control before it does damage to their bodies. If you'd like to go off BC, doctor's will tell you that it'll usually take a few months for your body to readjust itself to get ready for pregnancy. In my case, I wasn't even off them for 1 month and I got pregnant! Most doctors have given warnings on the IUD and Demerol shot as well as the Ortho Evra patch. I was on the patch for 2 yrs and started getting bad ovarian cysts filled w/ tissue and blood, so my doc was afraid that I would be more at risk for cervical cancer due to the patch, so I'm back on BC pills again. (I hate them, personally.)

I'm not a doctor, nor do i have any medical experiance. but as someone who is on BC and has asked many questions myself I've been told (by professionals) that bc shouldn't effect your ability to have children. However when you decide that you are ready, get off the pill for several mos before you start to try and get pregnant.

Except for the time I had my two children, I have been on birth control pills since 1972.

They should be on birth control for as long as they don't want to get pregnant. Better to be safe than sorry....

When your ready to try to have kids, stop taking birth
control for about three months prior. Taking it long term
will not affect your chances of getting pregnant.
